The Petrof company was originally established in 1864 but after World War II they were nationalised by the Czech government. They are currently the largest producer of acoustic pianos in Europe, which they export to over 65 countries. Their pianos are well constructed and made with high quality materials, including the finest hammer felt made by the German company of Abel, and this is attested to by their rich tone and even actions. This example has a bell-like quality, with a warm bass sonority and well-defined treble tone which sings beautifully. It has been well looked after and is in good condition overall, although there are some small unobtrusive marks to the case, which is reflected in the price. A fine European piano that will suit players up to a high level of performance.
