This is a stunning looking piano with decorative casework employing burr walnut veneer and an attractively painted frame, as well as a well-crafted musical instrument. The composer Sir Hubert Parry owned a very similar piano and this is still in Shulbrede Prior, his family home which is now the private residence of his descendants. The tone is full and the touch light to medium. It has been restrung in the relatively recent past and the action has been reconditioned. It is perfect for anyone particularly interested in playing music of the early Classical to Romantic periods as it has a lovely singing tone with a good degree of clarity and warmth, but is equally suitable for other styles. It would particularly suit occasional players or those at an early stage of their piano playing development. The fretwork desk has been restored and the case French polished sympathetically to maintain the old patina of the warm burr walnut.
