This solidly constructed piano is a fine example of high-quality British workmanship. Kemble pianos are famous for their rich and distinctive 'European' sound, which they attribute primarily to the 'Strunz' Bavarian spruce used for their soundboards. This piano has a high quality English action with a responsive touch and a full warm full tone. While having the full 7 octave range (85 Notes) it is nevertheless very compact - especially in terms of its short length (hence its model name of "Bijou") - and won't dominate any room. It's a lovely little instrument which is in excellent condition internally and externally - having been regulated, tuned and voiced in our workshop, as well as French polished. It benefits from a good music desk and a short 'prop stick' that keeps the top open for when greater projection of sound is needed. It is relatively unusual for such a small piano to have three pedals and this middle pedal is designed for quiet practice as brings a piece of felt down between the hammers and the strings to muffle the sound. A very useful feature! It has been played relatively little over the years and will no doubt bring pleasure to its new owners for many decades to come!
